The making of a legend
When in 1972, a leap year starting on a Saturday, the Space Shuttle program was ordered by Nixon, no one could imagine that 5 years later, on May 29 A.J. Foyt would become the first driver ever to win the Indy 500 4 times. Only 20 years earlier the first man made satellite was launched into an elliptical orbit with an inclination of 65 degrees, a perigee of 238 km and an apogee of 947 km. It took Sputnik 1 only 96,2 minutes to circulate the earth.
